Function Words

In short: Function vocabulary: 46 terms such as domain, range, slope, intercept, inverse, and asymptote, each defined in plain words with an example read from a graph or table, from 8th Grade through precalculus.
Input, output, domain, range, slope, intercept, vertex, inverse, asymptote, end behavior: the function vocabulary here follows students from 8th Grade through precalculus. Each word is defined in a line or two, then used in a small example based on a table, an equation, or a graph you can sketch.
When a problem says “identify the zeros” or “determine where the function is increasing,” the page tells you what to look for on the graph. Print it to review before a test, or leave it by your worksheet. Explaining each term using a quick sketch is one of the best ways to make the words stay.
46 words on this page, each with a definition, a figure, a solved example and two quick questions.
