Question 4 – Compare two quotients [2 pts]
Solve. Which is greater, \(6\div\frac{1}{4}\) or \(6\div\frac{1}{3}\)? Show the value of each.
Question 5 – Missing dividend [2 pts]
Find the number that makes the equation true: \(\text{?}\div3=\frac{1}{15}\). Show how you know.
Question 6 – Number line jumps [2 pts]
Solve. The number line shows jumps of equal size from 0 to 3. Write a division equation and find the quotient.
Question 7 – Slices of cheese [2 pts]
Solve. Liam has \(\frac{1}{4}\) pound of cheese. He cuts it into 3 equal slices. How much does each slice weigh?
Question 8 – Servings of rice [3 pts]

- Noah fills \(\frac{1}{8}\)-gallon bottles from the cooler. How many bottles can he fill? (1 point)
- Explain why the answer to part (a) is less than \(\frac{1}{2}\) but the answer to part (b) is greater than 2. (1 point)
Key facts behind this divide unit fractions test
- A unit fraction has a numerator of 1, like 1/4 or 1/8.
- A unit fraction divided by a whole number n is 1 over (denominator times n).
- A whole number divided by a unit fraction 1/b equals the whole number times b.
- Check any quotient by multiplying it by the divisor to get the dividend.
- Bar models and number lines show how many pieces there are.
