8th Grade Dilations and Similar Figures Worksheet (PDF)
This dilations similarity worksheet for 8th Grade covers dilations and similar figures (Common Core 8.G.A.3, 8.G.A.4), with a free PDF to print.
These 21 problems practice dilations, scale factors, similar figures and similarity transformations (Common Core 8.G.A.3 and 8.G.A.4). Each problem has its own space for work, so print the page and write directly on it.
The problems start with direct skill checks and grow harder as you go. Later items find missing lengths, describe sequences and solve real scale problems. Use the answer key afterwards to check every step.

Exercise 21 – Explain
Key facts behind this dilations similarity worksheet
- Dilation from the origin: \((x, y) \to (kx, ky)\).
- \(k > 1\) enlarges; \(0 < k < 1\) reduces; \(k = 1\) leaves the figure unchanged.
- Angles stay equal; side lengths multiply by \(k\); area multiplies by \(k^{2}\).
- Similar figures have equal angles and proportional sides.
- Use \(\frac{\text{new}}{\text{old}} = k\) to find missing lengths.
How to use this dilations similarity worksheet
Work through the exercises in order: they go from simple to challenging. Write every step on paper, then compare with the solutions page and redo any exercise you missed the next day.
