Maths Escape: a math escape game for every chapter
Maths Escape is a math escape game app for Android in which each chapter of the middle and high school curriculum becomes a locked room. The player solves 10 riddles, collects one letter per correct answer and spells a secret word to get out.
Because it fits the end of a weekly worksheet routine, it serves as a final check that the student really understands a chapter.

- Levels: Grade 6 (6ème) to Grade 12 (Terminale)
- Languages: French and English

Why a math escape game ends the week well
When a family or a class works through a printable worksheet, the last question is always the same: did the student understand, or just copy the method? An escape game answers that honestly. Since there are no hints, the door only opens when the notion is solid.
As a result, it makes a good Friday activity. Students finish the worksheet on paper during the week, and then the game closes the loop on the weekend.
How a game works
- Each game contains 10 riddles on a single chapter
- A correct answer gives a letter of the secret word
- The player has only 2 lives
- A correction appears after every correct answer, so the player learns while playing
140 games from Grade 6 to Grade 12
There is one game per chapter: fractions, signed numbers, the Pythagorean theorem, Thales, equations, functions, probability, sequences, derivatives, logarithms, complex numbers and integrals. The levels follow the French system, from 6ème (Grade 6) up to Terminale (Grade 12).
Stories and sound
Each game has its own story, hero and setting, for example a temple, a spaceship, a laboratory or a vault. Music and sound effects also change from game to game.
Progress tracking
- Games completed, shown by level
- Favourites to replay later
- A shortcut back to the last game played
- Progress that the app saves to the Google account of the player
Getting started
- Install Maths Escape from Google Play.
- Sign in with a Google account so progress is kept.
- Pick the level, then the chapter you just worked on.
- Keep scratch paper and a pencil next to the phone.
- Write down each letter and enter the secret word at the end.
Using it in a weekly routine
First, print a worksheet from the worksheet library, finish it during the week, then play the matching game. If the student fails, that is useful information, because he or she can return to the lesson for that chapter and try again later.
Teachers can also give one game at the end of each unit as a low-pressure evaluation.
Language and platform
The app is available in French and in English. The Mathovore and Maths PDF teams make the games. The current version runs on Android phones and tablets, while an iPhone version is in preparation.
Best practices
Treat each game as an evaluation, not as entertainment alone. A few habits make the result more useful, especially for the adult who follows the student:
- Play without notes first, then compare with the lesson afterwards
- Write down every riddle that caused a lost life
- Replay the same game a few days later to see what improved
- Print a worksheet on the chapters that took the most attempts
Because a correction follows each correct answer, even a failed attempt teaches something. Families who homeschool several children can give each child a different chapter, and then compare the results at the end of the week.
