4th Grade Measuring and Drawing Angles Worksheets with Answers (Free PDF)
This 4th grade measuring angles worksheet covers measuring and drawing angles (Common Core 4.MD.C.5, 4.MD.C.6, 4.MD.C.7), with a free PDF to print.
Key takeaway: This worksheet helps fourth grade students practice measuring, drawing, and finding unknown angles in degrees.
- Topic: Measuring and Drawing Angles (4th grade)
- Content: 20 worksheet problems, from easy to challenging
- Standards: 4.MD.C.5, 4.MD.C.6, 4.MD.C.7
- Answers: On a separate page, so you can try every worksheet problem first
- Format: Free printable PDF, US Letter, black and white
This worksheet helps fourth grade students practice measuring, drawing, and finding unknown angles in degrees. Also, early problems connect turns to degrees, and later problems use protractors, sketches, and real settings such as clocks and pizza slices.
There are 20 problems. The first group asks for degrees in full, half, quarter, and three-quarter turns. The next group uses the protractor and asks students to sketch angles, and the middle group adds or subtracts angle parts. Then, the last six are word problems about clock hands, a door, a robot, a picture frame, and sprinklers. Also, allow about 30 minutes.
These 20 problems practice angles as turns, the one-degree angle, reading a protractor, sketching angles, and adding or subtracting angles to find an unknown. They match Common Core 4.MD.C.5, 4.MD.C.6, and 4.MD.C.7.
The last six problems are word problems about a door, a robot, a picture frame, and sprinklers. Write the degree sign with every angle.

Key facts behind this 4th grade measuring angles worksheet
- An angle has two rays and one shared endpoint called the vertex.
- Next, a full circle is 360 degrees, a half turn is 180 degrees, and a quarter turn is 90 degrees.
- A one-degree angle turns through 1/360 of a circle.
- Acute angles are less than 90 degrees, right angles are exactly 90 degrees, and obtuse angles are greater than 90 degrees.
- If an angle is split into parts, the whole angle is the sum of the parts.
Common mistakes with this 4th grade measuring angles worksheet
- Students call an angle of exactly 90 degrees acute. Also, a right angle is exactly 90 degrees, and acute means less than that.
- Students subtract from 90 when two angles sit on a straight line. Angles on a line total 180 degrees, so use 180 as the whole.
- Students miscount the gaps on a clock face. Each gap between numbers is 30 degrees, so count the gaps, then multiply.
- Students stop after the first unknown angle in a multi-step problem. Instead, if a second ray splits that angle again, subtract a second time.
Tips before you start the worksheet problems
- Keep a sharp pencil when you sketch an angle. Finally, a thin line makes it much easier to line up the protractor.
- Draw a quick picture for every word problem. A small sketch of a clock, a door, or a circle shows the correct operation.
- Teachers can have students measure one real angle in the room, such as a book corner, and compare it with a right angle.

4th grade measuring angles worksheet: frequently asked questions
How do you sketch an angle with a protractor?
Draw one ray, then place the protractor center on its endpoint with zero on the ray. Make a small dot at the required number, remove the protractor, and draw a ray from the endpoint through the dot. Label the vertex.
How many degrees does a clock hand turn between two numbers?
A clock face is a full circle of 360 degrees split among 12 numbers, so each gap is 30 degrees. If a hand moves from the 12 to the 2, it passes two gaps, so it turns 2 times 30, which is 60 degrees.
How do you find the missing part of a right angle?
Subtract the known part from 90. If one part is 25 degrees, the other part is 90 minus 25, or 65 degrees. Check by adding the two parts and making sure the sum is exactly 90.
