Angles test: questions
Question 1 – Turns and degrees [2 pts]
- How many degrees are in a quarter turn? (1 point)
- How many degrees are in a three-quarter turn? (1 point)
Question 2 – Classify angles [2 pts]
- \(62^{\circ}\) (1 point)
- \(108^{\circ}\) (1 point)
Question 3 – Use the protractor [2 pts]
Use the protractor to measure the angle.
- What is the measure of the angle? (1 point)
- Is it acute, right, or obtuse? (1 point)
Question 4 – Draw an angle [2 pts]
Use a protractor to draw a \(150^{\circ}\) angle. The vertex and one ray are drawn for you.
(2 points)
Question 5 – Split angle [3 pts]
Angle PQR measures \(100^{\circ}\). A ray QS splits it into two angles, and angle PQS measures \(63^{\circ}\).
- Find the measure of angle SQR. (2 points)
- Is angle PQR acute, right, or obtuse? (1 point)
Question 6 – Angles on a line [3 pts]
Three angles sit together on a straight line, as shown.
- Find the measure of angle x. (2 points)
- Is x acute, right, or obtuse? (1 point)
Question 7 – Pizza party [3 pts]
A pizza is cut into 12 equal slices.
- What is the angle of one slice? (1 point)
- Jamal eats 5 slices. What is the total angle of those slices? (1 point)
- What is the total angle of the slices left? (1 point)
Question 8 – Clock turns [3 pts]
The minute hand starts at 12 and turns to 7. Each number on the clock is \(30^{\circ}\) from the next.
- How many degrees does the minute hand turn? (1 point)
- How many more degrees to complete a full turn back to 12? (1 point)
- At 4:00, what is the angle between the hour hand and the minute hand? (1 point)
Key facts behind this angles test
- An angle has two rays and one shared endpoint called the vertex.
- A full circle is 360 degrees, a half turn is 180 degrees, and a quarter turn is 90 degrees.
- A one-degree angle turns through 1/360 of a circle.
- Acute angles are less than 90 degrees, right angles are exactly 90 degrees, and obtuse angles are greater than 90 degrees.
- If an angle is split into parts, the whole angle is the sum of the parts.
How to use this angles test
Time yourself: the test is designed for an average student in 45 minutes. Answer the questions you are sure of first, then come back to the longer ones and check your units.
